Born and raised in a family of inland skippers, René van den Burg is well acquainted with the waters in the northern provinces. Nowadays René lives along the banks of the Lauwersmeer, a national park and one of the most beautiful nature and fishing areas in the country. René was first official fishing guide in the North of the Netherlands.

In fifteen years of intensive fishing for predators, René has gained a wealth of experience in fishing for pike and zander. Besides other techniques he often trolls lures through the many canals of Friesland and Groningen. He also like to fish large softbaits and cast lures for pike. When he targets zander and perch he likes to use dropshot or vertical jigging techniques.
